Click speed bands

What is a good CPS score?

On our guide, a 5 to 15 second run with a normal click is Casual from 4 clicks a second, Solid from 7, Sweaty from 10 and Cracked from 13. Longer runs can lower your average, so compare runs with the same timer.

Our own guide, not a scientific scale.

Bands for jitter, butterfly and drag clicking

Techniques that make the button fire faster get their own ladder, so a normal click is not graded against a drag click. These are for runs of 5 to 15 seconds; Kohi and right-click runs use the normal-click bands.

What a CPS score measures

CPS is the number of clicks the page receives divided by the seconds you chose. A run of 37 clicks in 5 seconds is 7.40 CPS in our arithmetic. The result also shows your busiest second and how evenly the clicks were spaced, because two runs with the same average can feel very different.

The page counts the button presses your browser reports. It cannot see your fingers, so a jitter or butterfly label is the style you chose, not something the test detects.

What changes your score

  • Timer length. Longer runs can lower your average. Compare runs with the same timer.
  • Mouse, touch or keyboard. Each input keeps its own best, because a tap on glass and a mouse button are different tasks.
  • Clicking style. Jitter, butterfly and drag clicking make the button fire more often than a normal press. That is why they have their own bands.
  • The mouse switch. A switch that bounces can send two clicks for one press, which lifts a score without any extra effort. Above about 14 a second with a normal click, check a single press in the double-click test.
  • How the browser reports clicks. The page counts each press the browser reports once. A run stops if the tab is hidden or the input changes part-way, and a run is discarded if two presses arrive with the same timestamp, so a score never rests on a broken run.
  • Auto-clickers. Software that clicks for you produces rates no hand can hold. A score from one is not a click speed.

Spacebar speed bands

The spacebar counter has its own ladder in presses per second, with the top bands a little lower than for mouse clicking.

Is there a world record?

We do not list one. The record figures quoted around click tests disagree with each other, and we have not found an independent body that keeps a record for browser click tests. Your own best on this browser is the number worth beating.
