What is butterfly clicking?

Butterfly clicking alternates two fingers on the same button. Alternating the left and right buttons is a different input pattern and is not counted by this preset.

How to try it

  1. Rest two fingers where they can comfortably reach the same button.
  2. Alternate presses instead of pressing both fingers together.
  3. Run a normal-click baseline at the same duration, then compare the count and spacing.

What is a typical score?

We do not have a reliable typical range for this preset. A number from a different timer, mouse or game is not a fair target. Start with your own repeatable score at the same settings; the result keeps your best on this browser.

Uneven alternation appears as pairs of close events followed by larger gaps. A higher count alone cannot tell you whether both events were intended.

Check the inputs before chasing a number

Some switches or debounce settings can register repeat events from a press. If the count seems surprising, check individual presses in the double-click diagnostic. The browser cannot identify which finger clicked.

A fast pair of events can be deliberate or unintended. Inspect separate presses and their intervals if the count surprises you. Double-click switches and debounce settings can change the recorded count; the test cannot diagnose their cause.

Check the rules of the game or server you play on before using a technique there. A CPS score does not tell you what that game allows. Stop if clicking feels uncomfortable.

Compare with your normal click

Set a normal-click baseline with the same timer, then return to this preset. Your result compares the full-run score, peak second and spacing where a baseline exists. See how those numbers are calculated.
