What it may mean

A key that never lights up may be taken by the system or not sent by the keyboard. If a key you are holding goes dark, or a new key does not light, when you add another, the keyboard may not report that combination (ghosting or a rollover limit): try other combinations to find which keys clash. A key that repeats while held is the system's auto-repeat, not a fault.

Live log and download (advanced)

Your latest presses show here. The download keeps every press, up to the log limit.

No download, no account: it runs in your browser, Chromebooks included.

A key that will not light up while others are held? Read what ghosting and rollover mean.

Is your Enter key a different shape from the drawing? See ANSI, ISO and JIS keyboards side by side.

    What does rollover mean here?

The pressed-key map shows keys currently down. Maximum simultaneous keys is the largest set of distinct codes held together during this capture. Repeat events are marked separately; releasing a key removes it from the held set.

    What this browser can measure

The operating system can reserve shortcuts, and layout changes key values. Missing or ghosted events cannot certify an electrical keyboard fault. Tab still leaves the pad. See how presses are timed.
